eBay Motors: FORD 6.8 V10 CYLINDER HEAD (item 170304554754 end time Mar-22-09 07:31:02 PDT)
But, it might be possible to get someone to do the entire insert job with the heads on the motor for about the same money, and screw the valve job.
Only have 1500 miles on them so far, so can't speak to durability yet.
Machine work looks good. All plug inserts looked good.
They were good folks to work with - they let me exchange my non-PI heads for rebuilt PI heads. They only had one of each side of PI head cores in stock and casting numbers indicate they were not from the same vehicle. But they work fine. They shipped within a couple days, and arrived in fine shape. Came with pre-paid labels to ship my cores back.
Other notes:
Came with cams and counterbalancer shaft. No gears, of course. Did not come with exhaust studs, but that is much safer for shipping and you should install new ones anyway. As I mentioned, they were not a "matched" set. One was cosmetically perfect - looked like new head with plug inserts.
The other had had a slightly rougher life before CCH reconditioned. Two of the spark plug holes had been welded up (by CCH) before installing the inserts. The welding was OK looking and sealed things up just fine, but not super pretty. Not that I could do any better... That would be a tricky deal. A couple of the exhaust stud holes had heli-coils in them and one had a bit of stud stuck in it way down at the bottom - far enough down not to interfere with new stud. Not sure if CCH put them in or if they were already in the cores. Some of the threaded holes had a little crud in them, but you should chase ALL holes anyway. Heads were very clean with a fresh coat of silver paint. One lifter took a while to pump up at first start, maybe 5 minutes. But it did and is working perfectly now.
All in all, I feel I definitely got my money's worth. Not "top shelf perfect", but quite serviceable. VERY good value for the price. If you expect perfection or like new condition, well, go elsewhere and pay accordingly.
