I'm looking to buy a 79 ford 60's front and rear with 39.5" irocks the bad thing is it only has a 351 2 barrel carb what are your thoughts on this set up? I dont know much on the 351's I'va always had big blocks
I assume it is a 351M not a windsor or cleveland. I am not a big fan of this motor but it came in a lot of the trucks. If the gearing isn't low with that tire you will have no power to speak of. It is not a bad motor I'm just not a big fan. I am also much more a big block man too. My 76 highboy has a 390 and my 66 fairlane has a 514.
yeah this guy has it set up sweet except the motor i might just buy it tho and check out bronco graveyard for some 460 motor mount swaps and swamp in a 460
well, let's see some pics of it. like 427 fordman said, it it doesn't have at least 4.88 gears then you're not gonna have any power/take off. take that 2 BBL off and get a 4 BBL, some exhaust, headers, and a possible cam and you'll have a pretty good truck.
that motor came in trucks from 77-79 with limited productions in broncos and f250/f350 untill 82. It's got good torque if you put a four barrell intake/carb and headers/exhaust so it can breathe. All the 351m/400's are smog dogs.
I decided to stick with my built 460 i dont know how to post pics but if you really want to see it it's craigslit portland oregon title 1979 ford $3800 from ocean parks wahington
