Just installed my sct x3 today and all I can say is holly s***. What a difference. For all the guys always asking how to make their truck blow smoke get the Extreme street tune from innovative. Too much smoke for me but man does it make power. I set mine on Street and so far love it!! I also got the tow tune but haven't used that one yet. What tunes are you guys running??
If you are looking for a "smokey", run Spartan Competition tune. Now that smokes!
Right now I'm running Innovative Extreme Race, and oh boy!
That's where we talk about power! I hit 38psi boost with it on the street, without flooring it!
I run the Street tune form innovative also all the time. I ran the Xtreme Street but opted not too, for everyday use, for 2 reasons :
1) I dont have head studs
2) Usually when I drive it now a days I am towing something. So its nice to use the street tune and still be able to tow 10k without a problem.
I too have the tow tune but havent used it yet as I usually dont tow at max GVWR. I may try it when I tow the GN to Englishtown this year.
I am running Spartin's Aggressive Street Economy (daily driver), lot's of smoke at take off clears up fast. Boost hits 30-32 psi max. EGT's hit 1200 max, I believe (my opinion) Spartin's tunes (archived selections) may be the safest for trucks without Head Studs.
So far I like the way Spartin Tunes perform and has the FREE tunes to try.
Who make the best Programs, Spartin or Innovative?
I have both and heres what I have found. The innovative tunes are nice and the trans tuning ins really awesome. My transmission shift super with these tunes, power from the engine is good too.
Spartans tunes are great the engine tuning seems a little better than the innovative, but the transmission shifts better with the innovative tunes. If I could find a way to combine them I would be really really happy ans so would my truck.
Call SCT in the morning and let one of there techs do it for ya over the phone. Takes five mins and you arent left sitting there wanting to throw the computer out the window!
Yes I do have the studs and EGR delete too. Not a drop of coolant loss.
Also have fuel pressure gauge in cab, so I can keep eye on it, and with the extreme race tune on the floor the pressure didn't go under 57 psi.
So I would say even I run hot tunes, I'll keep my eye on what's happening.
I also would say that Innovative transmission tune is awesome - even though the Extreme Street shifts at around 40MPH, so in city it could be annoying - , and Spartan engine / throttle tune is great. I wish that just like Sarge mentioned it , we could somehow mate the I transmission with S engine tune!
Do they actually help?? Is it something i can do from my work computer? will the tunes have to be saved in the actual computer? if so i would rather do it home so its not stuck in my work comp..

Go to SCT-s website, - it's SCT Automotive Performance Products, click on x3 flash device, and on the bottom right corner you'll see " Download Updates" .
Go there, choose your device, and you'll need the device drivers, firmwire, and software updates. When you click forward, you'll be able to read what you need to do. Once you finished with them, you'll be able to upload your custom tunes easely using like X3LWUPDATER.
I will give it a shot, thanks for the help. Im not the best with computers so this is tricky for me. I can take a car apart and put it back together in a day though!! lol
If computers are intimidating to you, call them and you can grant him access to your computer and he will install everything for you. This is what i did. I had the tunes in ther truck in about 15 mins from the time he started downloading the programs.
