200 CI Carb specs

Ive got a 66 Ranchero with the 200 6. I need to rebuild the carb due to a leak and would like to know what i should set the float and the adjustment screws. Also i would like to know what the proper spark plug gap is. Here are the numbers off the tag on the carb:

C6DF 9510C
A 5KA

Thanks in advance!

Alex

Hi Alex, if you take those exact numbers into Napa, they can look up the kit you need in their parts book for you.

I can't remember which site has the spark plug / gap info. You may consider doing a Duraspark II upgrade using the blue-grommet igniter box or classicinlines also sells a DUI distributor that uses the 4-pin GM HEI module - and couple either with a Ford TFI ignition coil and you'll have plenty of spark to get a little more HP and torque.

someone already did the duraspark upgrade, i changed the cap and rotor today and it runs pretty good. Do you know if the ignition module is still availiable?

Yeah, Summit Racing sells the blue grommet DSII modules, classicinlines sells a custom module, and I think you can even still get the OEM DSII modules at most auto parts stores.

I found out today that the local parts stores still carry the modules... i had to buy one. It was only 42.00. I was running it this morning and it started to miss, like i was rapidly shutting the key on and off, then it just shut off. No spark. I checked my wiring diagrams and all the connections under the hood and the dash. The connection on the coil was a little corroded so i cleaned that up and still nothing. I checked the reluctor ring and pickup in the distrubutor and it was clean and i did an ohms test on that and the coil and all checked out fine. After i looked at the module i realized the problem... someone at one time or another put a coolant recovery bottle right above the module and it leaked coolant onto it and the plastic potting on the back had shrunk and there was a crack in it and warm coolant wicked onto the circuit board shorting it out. The case was horribly corroded and i got a new oem one and it fired right up!!

C6DF 9510C / A / 5KA = Assembled the first week of October, 1965.
Alex
C6DF-9510-C = C6DZ-9510-A replaced by DOPZ9510G 1V Carburetor (Motorcraft CA746A)

C8OZ9A586D .. Carburetor Tune Up Kit (Motorcraft CT207A)

C6OZ9590F .. Carburetor Master Overhaul Kit (Motorcraft CR288)

You replaced the ignition module, how about this?

D4PZ12A112A .. Stator aka Pickup Coil (Motorcraft DU1A)

The blue module is available from Ford, but not for 42 bucks!

1U2Z12A199AA .. Ignition Module-Blue (Motorcraft DY893) / (1U2Z-AA replaced D9VZ12A199A)

MSRP: $113.62 / FTEpartsguy.com price: $61.36.

However, if you bought a module made in CHINA, do not expect it to last very long. Those modules are CRAP!

btw: The 1965/72 FORD PASSENGER CAR PARTS CATALOG is available on a CD from hipoparts.com for less than 25 bucks.

They also have ALL the truck parts catalogs on CD's from 1948 thru 1989.
