Dash knob removal

Dash **** removal
Hello,
I have a 1986 Ford F250 4x4, 351W.
I need to replace several bulbs in my dash and cannot figure
out how to remove the light and wiper *****. I have the Haynes
manual for my truck, but all it says is to use a hook tool to
release each **** lock tab. I can't see behind the ***** to see
how they are attached. I am not 100% sure what a hook tool is.
I saw a picture of what was called a hook tool and if it is
correct, I have something almost identical ( a metal dental pick ).
Does anyone have more information than the Haynes manual?
Thanks for any help.

Dash **** removal
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 14-Jan-02 AT 10:05 PM (EST)]On the bottom part of the Wiper **** is a slot ,Inside that slot is a friction springy metal type retainer.
If you had a jewellers screw driver you place it inside the slot and pull the **** toward the seat at the same time.
**Disconnect battery**
The headlight switch:
You have to reach up under the dash to the TOP of the headlight switch. There is a Little RELEASE BUTTON that has to be depressed WHILE you tug on the light switch ****. Remain CALM while you're doing this and DON'T force it
That's all there is to it.
BTW, You could have posted this in the appropriate year of truck ,it would have been answered sooner.
