hey guys. now this is a fight that was going for a while now. I had my clutch replaced about 1 1/2 years ago. the tranny shop broke the transmission casing right where it mounts to the frame. I have been trying to get them to do something about it replace the casing or transmission either is fine with me. but after fighting with them this long I have given up. it is currently being held on with a couple of very long bolts and a lot of washers. it has held up this long but I don't know how long I dare run it this way. so any suggestions on fixing this that isn't going to break the bank. or anyone out there know a way to fabricate a new mounting point on the casing.
that would be nice but somehow I don't think that would get me anywhere lots of thoughts like that have crossed my mind though one having something to do with him having a speed bump of a car
and I would take them to small claims court and file with the better business burea.
EXACTLY!
I hate to say it, but it's worth it all around.
I'd write a nice letter to the owner of the shop, registered mail so you know someone received it, and plainly state that if they don't fix it, you will take them to small-claims court.
Make sure you have copies of the receipt for the work, and if you can, detailed logs of when you called/visited and what was said, and who said it.
If the shop owner is a you-know-what, they'll fight it. If the shop owner is smart, they will just pay to replace the case or the entire tranny.
Be prepared for a junkyard tranny offer.
If you do go to small-claims court, be prepared with a price for a new transmission from the dealer, with documents (quote) backing it up.
My thoughts are you have waited to long.
Unless you took pictures with dates as to when this happened an the owner of the shop ,knows you have the pic's
you may be sol

I feel you may be right I may have handled this poorly. I have been arguing with the owner since it happened. Im not a big fan of law suits. and was really hoping the guy would just man up and take care of it. or at least cover some of it. thats why I was just figuring I would get it fixed myself. but I as kind of hoping that there was a cheaper fix than replacing the whole casing or tranny. finances are a little low after leaf springs, tires, and shocks all the way around.
Last time, just tell the guy you're going to small claims court. It might be what's necessary to shake his tree.
Small claims has a much lower threshold to prove what happened, and how long it took to get results.
If you can get the guy to admit in court that it was broken by his shop, you're done. Since you've had so many conversations with him already, for him to deny it in court would take a certain amount of chutzpah.
been a while since I posted this thread just thought I would let you guys know the transmission shop that did this didn't just get me. apparently they got enough people to get dragged into a class action suit lost. had to pay 385,000.00 got my check in the mail the other day. 5.73 after lawyer fees and splitting it with everyone else involved. glad to see someone went after them for it but boy can't decide what to spend my 5.73 on.

wow i hate to laff at ur misery, but that is a prime example of justice at work...
/sigh... all that grief to get 5$...
so im guessing u didnt get teh tranny case sorted out by them then ???
no they didn't ever fix it. about a month ago I threw a rod in the truck so while they had the motor out I had them put a used transmission in (when the tranny shop broke the casing they also damaged the syncros, and installed the clutch improperly.) so now I have a truck with 140000miles on it with a motor and tranny with 58000 miles on them. won't be getting a newer f250 any time soon
