cd player problem...

cd player problem...
soo when i hit my steering wheel decently hard with my hand my cd play shuts off and comes back on and how i noticed this is one day the thing just shut off and wouldnt come back on till i turned the key off and back on any idea's??

Was it on CD? or Radio? If Cd, my guess would be that you may have hit it hard enough to knock your laser out just a little,and when you turned your key off and then back on,it reset itself. If it was on radio,I have no idea other than maybe a lose wire or something

If there was a CD playing, then as said before, the lens may be dirty and more prone to skipping. If the "skip" is hard enough then the player may think that it has been shut off or no CD and shut itself down. I had an aftermarket player that did this. Try running a CD cleaning disc through it and see if that helps. If the laser is to dirty then you can carefylly try to clean it with a long Q Tip with a little rubbing alcohol on it.

we need more info, cd just turns off like no power? or its says reading ? like Jim said: you might want to take it apart and clean laser with Qtip but gently, or get the cleaning discs and run it for a minute. but to me it sounds like connection problem, if the cleaning wont solve your problem , i still have my 2001 f250 and if you want send it to me ill check the connections clean you laser and send it back to you ....

does walmart sell them cleaning disk?? this problem happen to me twice over the last 2 weeks thats it and all power goes on when i'm listen to a cd and then comes back on when i turn the key off and on it might be dirty i'll try that cleaning
