Just purchased our second 09 Escape Ltd 4X4 V6 on Saturday and am finding slight vibration at speeds above 50 MPH (similar to drive shaft balancing) enough there that you can feel it like a vibrator on the back of the seats.. We have checked the tires for balance etc. and all are okay. Vibration seems to be coming from rear power train as you do not feel and vibration at the steering wheel. Any experiences or ideas as to what this may be, U-joints, drive line?
We love our other 09 which has been trouble free with 2500 miles on it!
Appreciate any advice, help. Thanks Ellis
i test drove a 09 4 cyc escape fwd a while back. i noticed not at speed but idle in drive the seat had a real bad vibration. didnt notice anything at speed but i didnt take it to far to feel.
Much like Ford 4x4 trucks where the front end is engaged all the time, I "assume" the rear of a FWD 4x4 is engaged all the time too! That means everything is still turning back into the transfer case.
When it comes to a ring/pinion gearset, you have a drive and coast side on the gear tooth. A always engaged system needs a good match going both ways or you'd get noise.
My '97 Ranger 4x4 with the frontend locked up but not in 4x4, growled a bit.
