You don’t say what you are pulling, also what tranny? The cam you put in, was it a RV cam? Also the headers, were they designed for a motorhome?

Some of the biggest mistakes people make is trying to get more high rpm horsepower like a race engine when pulling a RV. For towing you need lots of low rpm torque and you need to purchase the right accessories to do this. So post more info as to what you are trying to do. Also there is a towing section on this website that has a lot of informative guys that will help you if this is what you are doing.

Porting the heads can make a difference, along with a good, 3 angle valvejob. Maybe mill the heads while you're at it to bump compression. I'd really like to know what your cam specs are, I'm getting ready to put a cam in my 460 (finally..) and don't want to install a cam that messes with the stock fuel injection computer.

What kind of exhaust do you have after the headers?

re: pulling my 460

i have done a lot of mods to my 95 E350 w/a 460. the best bang for the buck was adding an MSD 6A. it added a lot of low end throttle response and allowed me to pull hills in OD that i was never able to do previously. cost was low and results were amazing. same comment from a bud running a 95 F350 4x4 and towing a desert trailer.

after that i would clean and rescreen/o-ring my injectors if they had over 100k miles. did it to mine w/ great results as my spray pattern had turned to squirt on a couple of injectors. used a kit from RJM Injection Tech - cost about $40.

start with the simple things first. then spend money.
