Getting Closer to it Being Done...
Today, I got the grille on and installed rubber moulding around the passenger side door during the two sunny periods of the afternoon. The grille was easy. (See, all the lights work in the picture.) The moulding was a pain the a.. you know. Now the door is tough to shut. I read that would happen until the rubber softened and took the shape of the shut door.
Here is what I have left (not including mechanical things)
- Install the seat
- D-side door moulding
- A few trim pieces in the cab
- Install a stereo and speakers
- Reassemble the door panels
- Install the door/cab light switches
- Replace a few burned out bulbs
- Secure the fuse box
- Find where the water leak is (I think around the windshield some place)
- Put the aluminum "Ford" placard on the tailgate
- Replace Mike and Joe's joke of putting F100 badges with the appropriate F250 badges.
- Install the headliner and trim (that will take two to three people to do it right. I am glad my wife is strong and handy.
- Check for any other missing things
- Get LineX put in the bed.
I will need to change the oil and check fluid levels and get.
In the distant future, find where the oil leak is, replace the rear pinion seal, and maybe get bigger wheels and tires for it.
At least you can tell it is a 1970 now (with a lot of parts from other 70-72 pickups). Anyway, how was your weekend?

My wife helped me put the headliner in which was a lot harder than you would think to do. She did a great job holding the huge replacement headliner sheet in place while I put the trim pieces in to hold it. I also put the sun visors and holders.
I put another cheap seat cover on the seat and then put that in yesterday. All I have left for this week is to install the tachometer and put a little piece of hood trim on. The stereo is not in yet, so the inner door panels are still out.
I took it for a drive today. It is amazing how quiet it is now that I have door moulding, floor cover, fire wall insulation, and a headliner installed. I guess putting the shifter and transfer case boots also helped with that as well. It will be even quieter once I put the inner door panels back in and close up the doors.
I look forward to showing it to my brother next weekend when he flies in.
I will post more pics when the sun comes back out.
Hope you had a great weekend.
