Has anyone installed a Mico brake loc system on their truck? My emergency brake has never worked well (all drum), I get in a lot of situations where I need the engine running and the truck to stay stationary. It would be OK if I had an automatic trans but even then I would like a more positive parking brake. Thanks for any imput.

I got one for my ranger when a tree stump removed my parking brake cable. I got a manual one that I mounted under my dash. I then routed the brake lines to it, then back to the master cylinder. Works AWESOME. It also has a key so that when you lock it and pump the brakes to lock pressure in the line no one, and I mean NO ONE, can move your truck unless they cut the brake lines. I even got an anti-theft discount on my insurance. Stay away from the elctronic ones though. They require quite a bit o power to remain locked. If you used it as an e-brake it would kill your battery overnight trying to stay locked.
Rabidranger,I like the key lock system you installed better than the cable operated mico style. Do you have the name of the manufacturer of your brake lock, does it work on both front and rear brakes?I appreciate the help.

I can't for the life of me remember the name. If you call summit or look through one of thier catalogs you should be able to come across it. And yes, it works with front and rear, any proportioning valve you may want to install and ABS. I think it cost about $90. That was way cheaper than trying to figure how to put the e-brake system back together.
Thanks rabidranger, I found them at brakelock.com.It looks like a good system and I will order it this week.Have you ever had a problem with the brakelock system leaking? Thanks again for the information.

No leaks after 75K+ miles. I parked my Ranger on a STEEEEEEP hill every day for 4 years at college and I loved that thing. Twist the key as I rolled up into the parking spot, pump the brakes twice, done. All 4 wheels locked. I even illegally parked one day and came back just in time to see the tow truck guy trying to get it. I asked what he was going to do when he realized the front tires were not going to turn. haha. Ha had to let it down and I drove it away!!!

Rabid ranger,
How'd ya install yers? did you just run brake lines through the firewall, to the lock mounted to the bottom of the dash? got any pics?Won't the brake pressure constantly on the system wear out brake lines faster (rubber).
I went to the parts store and bought some couplers (sp?) and some brake line that was already flared and had the fittings. Then I disconnected the lines from the master cylinder and routed the new lines from the cylinder through the fire wall just above the tranny shifter. I ran the lines down the tranny bellhousing and into the cab. Connected them to the Brakelok, then ran the other new set of lines out. Here you can do one of two things. I opted to get a female/female adapter and conncet the new line to the old. Or you could disconnect the old lines from thier distribution blocks on the frame and run the new ones right to em. I have never had a prob with mine as far as pressure in them all the time. I have ALL metal lines in my entire brake system though. I think any "rubber" lines that anyone may have on thier truck will be the steel braided reinforced type. Sorry I don't have access to a digital camera for any pix (I know, I am still living in the dark ages!). I think that anyone who gets one will be extremely happy with it, you should even get an anti-theft discount on your insurance, I did.
Rabidranger, I have been trying to get a response from Brakelock.com for a couple of weeks but have not been able to get any kind of response from them.Did You ever find the brand name of the brakelock system you bought?Could you possibly take a look and see if there is a brand name on the unit itself? Thanks in advance.

Finally got a call from Brakelock.com. Their online server went haywire and they should have it fixed soon. They took my order by phone. Will post after I install it.
