Hey, sorry for the off topic nature, but I posted this in the SD forum and didn't get much response.
Hi, I was greasing my front end zerks today and got a bit carried away with one. The grease tore a little rip in the rubber boot thing on the pivot point taht you can grease in front of the axle. Is this bad? If I need a new one, what is the part called, and how much of a pain is it to replace?
Thanks,
I have a torn boot on a newish tie rod end and have been running it for 18 months or so like that. On and off road, salting and plowing. No issues so far. Just keep an eye on it.
Ok. I think I'll let it be for a while and see if anything comes of it. I am about to do my driver's side ball joints and I was just seeing how nasty the hardware was up front (pretty bad, I hope I can get it apart myself, might have to take it somewhere).
back in the day you could get just the boot basic Ford number 3332 but I tried looking it up for a 2001 F350 and got nada. zip, zero so maybe aftermarket moog or?
At work all of our seals on the plan are busted out our Supervisor said" It isn't greased until you see it coming out" Though on my truck I put just three shots in it and it popped at the very bottom.
