1988 300 inline 6 swap

I have a 1988 f-150 w/ a 300 inline 6 efi I was givin a 1970 300 inline 6 with 7000 miles on it will the 1970 300 bolt in or is it a waste of my time to try??

It should bolt right in. You plan on swapping the fuel injection over don't you? I'm not a 300 expert, but you should be able to swap over the EFI stuff to the 1970 block.

Very simple swap. Everything should line up nicely. If you plan on sticking EFI well then someone else will have to help you but if your keeping the carb, just get yourself a fuel pressure regulator that brings the PSI down to about 7. Otherwise you can do what I did and rip all the electrtic fuel pumps and such out and use the mechanical pump.
Is your tranny manual or automatic?

It is a 4 speed manual Trans i would like to keep the efi if it will work

The EFI stuff should work. You will need the intake manifold of your EFI truck and all the stuff that comes with it. I'm not sure about the cylinder head though. If you are luck you will be able to bolt the EFI manifold to the 1970 head. If not, take your EFI head apart and have it tanked and machined, then install it on the 1970 motor. Good luck!
