problems at 800 rpm
I figured out why my 351W gets hot while crawling at slow speeds.
If I let the motor idle, which is set around 750-800 rpm, the water pump doesn't circulate any water through the radiator or heater core.
This is how I came to this conclusion.
1) the temp climes to 210+ degrees but the heater blows cold air and
2)the radiator tank is cold
Rev it up to around 1100rpm and the heater warms up, engine cools down.
Now for my question, I have a harmonic balancer that is drilled for 3 or 4 bolt crank pulleys. I am running the stock 3 bolt, 2 grove pulley. I would like to speed up my alt and water pump to work better at low rpm.
Can I get a bigger crank pulley??? where??

How is the condition of your water pump and thermostat? What temp t-stat are you running?
Jason
Running a 190 thermostat.
The alt doesn't put out well at an idle, (I am running a volt meter not amp meter)
The heater systems don't throw all that much heat from my experience. Somethimes the baffles in the box are bad or not connected properly to the dash mounted actuators which only add to your woes.
I run my Bronc without carpet or heat shield... get better heat from the engine compartment and exhaust than I ever do from the heater!
