Hello all, I wanted to share a pic. of My 46' ford dumptruck project, but how does one post a pic. on this site? Also I am doing some rust repair on this truck, I've found web sites selling the things I need but they only sell them in pairs. I need a drivers side inner door bottom and a pass. side cab corner. Any one here have any of these such parts? If not if I bought the pairs would anybody be interested in the stuff I don't use? Thanks, Dan
Welcome, I'm visiting from the 61-66 section..I like all these old trucks
As far as the pics, the easiest for me was to create and account at Image hosting, free photo sharing & video sharing at Photobucket, its free and really easy to use, upload your pics there, make sure to check the option to resize your pics to 800x600 as they are uploaded. When done simply move you mouse over the pics you want to post and check the box..you won't see it unless you mouse over it.
When done selecting the pics you want, go down to bottom of page and click generate html and image code, then right click that and click Copy, then open the other window where you post is and left click and Paste, submit your post and its all done.
Not to big. Nice truck. Welcome to the site and the group. I would take the drivers side cab corner (well buy it) but I need to repair the passenger side as well and for $75 for the pair I think its just worth it to buy both. On one site they used to go for $75 a piece, now its $75 a pair. If no one here offers to buy either, try selling on Ebay or craigslist.
welcome to the forum. truck looks pretty tight. interesting that only one fender has park light, something going on there. dump body looks to be quite straight. doing full resto? if you need a set of cheap grille bars, i have a pic in my gallery. all 15, straight, no rust through. need blasting and paint. i like it, good luck fixin her up.
Hi all, I found this truck advertised in My local news paper, asking price was $800.00. It had not ran in a few years, one head was off and it was seized up. The reason the head was off was because it had only been running on 7 cylinders. I bought it for $700 and drug it home, freed up the motor and found 1 valve guide retaining clip was missing and valve would not shut. Simple fix, 1 new clip, 1 new head gasket and one new intake gasket and it was purring like a kitten. BUT the clutch wouldn't disengage, so I pulled the engine out. Another simple fix, the fulcrum bolts were loose on the pressure plate. Here's a pic of the truck at the previous owners. This has been bondo'ed up before and the fender was smashed where the small light goes. Who ever did this before just covered the light area with bondo. I plan on straightening most dents and giving it a so-so paint job, then using it to haul firewood for My shop.
Hello all, I've been working on this truck for about a year now. I thought I might post a couple of pics of My progress. My plan is to paint the hood brown like the cab, and the fenders black. So far the cab is painted with Lesonal base/clear, and I lucked out, Rustoleum makes a rattle can that is almost a perfect match that I painted the box with. So far all the black has been painted with equipment enamel(it's a dump truck). TTFN, Dan.
Dan, your truck is coming along beautifully, very good. It's great to see some of these big trucks being brought to life rather than just rusting away. With all the 1/2 tons that get restored it's easy to forget that big trucks like these were common once. Great choice on the brown, almost looks kind of copper, great contrast with the black.
Very nice looking truck. One question, do you know what type of rear end is in it? Is it a 2sp, did it come in the truck? I'm looking for one for my 43 Ford 1.5 ton and I need one with more highway friendly gears.
But, the bed with the black and brown looks great,
As far as I know it came in the truck, it was a 2 speed but the vacuum canister is gone and it is chained in high gear. I have no clue as to the gear ratio or make. I've never driven it any more than in My yard yet.
