I have the same issue. The Dealer is right. It is "Fallout". It consists of all the metal dust in the air that lands on the paint which then gets wet and rusts. The clay bar is the best way just be sure to follow the instructions and remember to wax afterwards.
hmmm never heard of this before and just courious is that an issue due to manufacturing plants or something along that line? heard stories from old timers about the acid rain and the destruction it did.. We just don't see that kind of stuff in the desert here, sort of like the middle of no where.
I had the same problem with my 01 f 150 (white) and my 03 (silver). I think the dealer is on crack when they say it's the brakes, it's all the b.s. in the air. cleaned up with a lot of elbow grease and a rubbing compound
Back when I was in college I had a 88 Ford Escort EXP (Looked kinda like a Mustang, but frontwheel drive and a 2 seater) that was white. I used to wash and wax that thing once a month. And I will tell you this, that is the last white vehicle I will ever own. I used to have to wash it, then go over the whole body by hand with bug and tar remover to remove all the black streaking from the crap in the rain, then rewash it again and then hand wax the SOB. Car looked real sharp when done, but like I said, last white vehicle I will ever own.
I had the same problem on my '05 truck, they say it is "rail dust" from the train wheels during shipment. It took a year or two to show up. Chaos, years ago an escort kept up with my merc. cyclone to about 130 mph., you wouldn't know by looking at it, but those cars were super fast.
Never had this issue because I've never washed my truck. I've owned this white super duty for five years now and can't remember ever washing it. Are we supposed to?

Only when your not sure if you own a white truck should you wash!

Brake dust embedding in your paint is a definite possibility!
It's a Ford thing. My truck is white and does the same thing. I have to take a clay bar to it from time to time to get it off. My wife and I drive a Grand Am as an economy car and it's white..... with none of that orange stuff enbedded in the Pontiac paint. Same goes for the BMW, no issues with the paint there (it's silver).
I have 2 white OBS Ford trucks and 1 other white Superduty, all work trucks. On all 3 trucks the paint has orange specs all over.
My Cadillac STS is diamond white colored and had the dreaded "brake dust" spots all over it. My 2006 F350 also had some of this contamination in the paint. In both cases clay was used to remove it.
