Is the smoke pure white or blue/gray in color? When you say it smokes pretty good are you able to see the cars behind you? When an egr cooler goes all you will see behind you is white but it don't think it would be intermittent. I would check you egr valve.

it smells mostly like diesel.i really dont see any excessive oil cunsumption.fromm new york to florida it used only 1 qt. i mean you can almost set your watch by this thing. 2 hrs and it smokes. shut her down for even 5 mins and it's good to go for 2 more.i'm stumped

it 's not using any coolant no signs of pucking and seems to be a fuel problem

Mine is loosing coolant but I can't find where. It just started loosing it a few weeks ago. I haven't towed and it hasn't over boosted. Frustrating. What brand fuel filters do you use and how often do you change them?

i use motorcraft filters and change twice a year.

Exclamation EGR cooler or valve problem?

My 2004 F250 4x4 crewcab is blowing white smoke and the Ford repair shop said it was the EGR Cooler, After reading all this stuff on EGR Valves and Cooler I realy don't know what to do, Please help me because I can't afford the repair cost of 1,900.00 from the shop.
