Cab switch

I am working on the high idle modification for a 6.0L diesel. I have an '04 so I don't have upfitter switches. I'm trying to figure out where I want to put a switch for this.

There is a place in the cab, to the left of the storage cubby, that appears to be intented for a switch. But I can't figure out what a switch would be there for. The only thing I can think of is maybe a switch for heated seats.

Anyway, I've attached pictures of the location, with the blank plug in place and removed. If anyone knows what switch might go here, or where I can get a switch that fits here, I would appreciate it. The hole measures 17x33mm. So just under 11/16" wide and approx 1 5/16" high.

That hole is for the power adjustable pedals. I have them, but have never needed to adjust them. It's a pretty simple rocker switch that looks like the power window switches, I haven't taken it out so I am not sure on the housing.

Thanks for the info. That is just what I needed to know. I found that switch in my service manual, with wiring and connector diagrams. I think I could make it work for me with a DPDT relay. Now if I can just find the switch that goes there.

If you are looking for the stock switch for that location, Ed may be able to help.

The switch is momentary, so a common relay would only be active momentarily. You will need either a latching relay or to need a momentary signal to run the high idle. I've seen diagrams for making a latching relay circuit, but it's more of a pain than buying a relay designed to latch.

Hmm. Good idea. I've never heard of a latching relay, but I'll look around for one. I was working out in my mind how use a regular DPDT relay and make it latch myself.

I'm not sure about the DPDT, but here's a diagram for using SPDT to make a latching circuit

See if this link works, latching relay

I found general purpose latching relays with quick connect tabs at mouser.

I found this relay after looking at quite a few. This appears to be intended for automotive use. At least it appears to have regular sized blade type connectors. It appears voltage applied one direction causes it to switch one way, and reverse voltage causes it to switch the other way. This is what the brake pedal control switch is designed to do, according to the diagrams I see in the manual.
