Ford F350

I was in the process of changing the ORings on the dipstick when we dropped the the inside part into the oil pan I know removing the oil pan means pulling the engine. PLEASE! Someone out there tell this has happened to them and they figured out a way to get it out.

Is this a 5.4 engine and just what piece dropped into the oil pan? I thought that the entire dipstick tube assembly was a single piece that has an o-ring between the tube and the block.

The tube should be held in place with two brackets that bolt to the block and should be only a minor pain to remove.

Ask this question in the appropriate engine forum and one of the real experts will give you the answer.

It is a 7.3 Liter Deisel. Sorry I posted to the wrong place I am new to this site. As far as the piece that fell It is where the dipstick goes into the oilpan and the there is a piece that screws on the outside and a piece on the inside of oil pan that has an oring and that is the piece that fell. I will try to find the right area to post.

I guess I posted to the wrong area again trying to answer you as far as your question it is a 7.3 liter diesel 4X4 and the piece that fell into the oil pan is where the dipstick goes into the oilpan is where there is a flange on the outside of the oilpan connected to a piece inside the oilpan with a ORing stupidly we took the flange bolt off and dropped the inside piece into the oil pan.
