looking into a turn key from here;
Ford Performance Engines, Ford Crate Motors, Ford Engines, Ford Motorsports
thinking mild perf. 302 or proably 351w
thinking of keeping front straight but dropping couple inches, rather have strong front and not get into a mess with ind. susp. swap. - maybe a drop from speedway?
need automatic....recomendations on where to buy a good auto new or well rebuilt and what one would work well with easy in out swap and above motors?
Truck lasted granpa 45 years....want it to last me/my daughter another 45 or as long as it can. Not worried about money/time/ or doing work.
Doesn't have to scream, just want it to be trustworthy runner and light work truck...doesn't have to handle like a sports car (matter fact- better be truck tough)....but gotta handle alright....
Thinking having line-x put in....seems best option from research.
When done gotta have auto, a/c, heat and be safe of course.
Anyone got experience with any of the above places/products/etc.?
Opionions?
Easier/better options?
Wheels and a wash do wonders for looks LOL
I could skip the drop....but after the work he did with it....the backs already sittn' low....maybe i need to work on the back to bring it up?
I'm still learn'....
definitely figured on replacing some old stuff....
appreciate the thoughts, maybe i need to reconsider- i DO NOT want a truck that looks like a car.
as for the motor and drivetrain....the thing just won't get down the highway something's gotta change, and i want a/c and auto for the women in the family.
Ford Racing Performance Parts [Crate Engines]
A 302 with a c4 auto behind it would be fun. A 351W could also be fun. Course a 521 would be even better, lol. If money is not a problem then I would go with CPP disc brake upgrade (with power booster) including all new drum parts in the back also. The power booster actually mounts directly to the firewall. The push rod had to be modified though. On the C4 you probably would be better off with a 1970+ c4. I have one that came with my parts truck. I spent $200 for a B&M complete trans kit. Local shops want $300 to rebuild it for me. The directions are good though so I may try to tackle it myself. Remember that your radiator is only set up for water, so with an auto you will either add an additional cooler or purchase a new radiator with trans cooler integrated.
Send me your checkbook I'll get you all the good stuff, lol.

Ford Trucks for Ford Truck Enthusiasts
The gas cap was available in stainless or painted.
The step bumper is either a dealer installed optional accessory (not genuine Ford), or was installed by a previous owner.
Many of the aftermarket step bumpers sold in CA were made by the Fey Bumper Co.
The red 100 insert is missing from the hood side emblem.
It's available by itself from carolinaclassics.com / Catalog, page 25.
