Back at Christmas I noticed a leak under the Escape, got under to look and saw it was the right front axel seal leaking. Took it back the dealer on Dec. 23 but they didn't have the parts to fix it before we were leaving for Saskatoon. They said it wasn't leaking that bad and they would fix it after the holidays. Took it back on Jan 5. and they replaced the seal with a new updated one. Three weeks later it was leaking again, made the apointment to bring it in and told them it was the same seal leaking as before. I went and dropped the vehical off my self that time a little upset that it wasn't fixed right the first time. I got a call at work three hours later and they told me the right front axel seal was leaking and they would have to order the parts and I would have to bring the vehicel back the next day. This was making me mad because I told them what the problem was when I made the apointment and I miss time at work every time I had to take to vehicel to them.
I just noticed on friday that it is leaking again for the third time!! Now I'm getting really mad, not at the Escape(it is a really nice vehicel)but at the dealer who apparently can't fix anything. I think it's time to take it somewere else! You whould think that after the second time they would start looking for the cause, like a bad shaft or something. Three seals in a month and a half is ridiculus!!!
We have had a lot of issues with the way the dealer has been handling our problems to the point where we would like to trade the vehical off some where else, just so we wouldn't have to deal with them anymore. The problem is we would loose whey to much only having the vehicel for five months.
That sucks to hear that your having dealership problems Marlon. I will say though man if you are happy with the vehicle, I would TRY to stick it out, but I can respect the fact that it can be very frustrating.
Was it a regina dealer you brought it to the last few times? Is there more then one dealer in regina, that maybe you can bring it into?
that would be fustrating for sure!! i'm sitting here wondering if perhaps there's a rough spot on the axle itself thats causing multiple seal failures?? i mean, changing an axle seal isn't rocket science, how could they screw it up that many times??
i'd be checking with another dealer in town, if still no luck, off to watrous where you've dealt before... terrible for a dealer to build a rep like that, but if its the one i'm thinking of, they're notorious for being next to impossible to deal with...
After three failed attempts it`s it`s time to try a different dealer which is a shame!....... If they won`t pick it up and drop it off at your place of work don`t they at least have a loaner?
I talked with the service writer at Merlin when I was there this weekend and they had a few with this same problem when it got cold but the updated seal solved the problem for them. They did have one he said that had a spot on the shaft right where the seal was riding. I told the dealer here the second time we took the vehicel in to check the shaft because I have seen this to with some ag. equipment but they assured me they checked the shaft and it was fine.
We went to the boat and RV show and sale here in Regina today and one of the dealers also sells vehicels. We almost traded the Escape off on a mint condition '05 supercab F250 FX4 with less than 50,000klm. It would be just too hard for my wife to park that truck downtown and she told me that one would be her's!
holy cats, thats an awesome deal i think!! i'm almost tempted to seriously look for one in that year/price/mileage range. drive it in the summer and keep some miles off my F150...

Was that the white one at Auto Gallery? It looked pretty good, a couple of the others though, looked ruff.
Have a look at the top of the forum here where they have recall and TSb . Check and see if there has been any recalls on the Escape. This site is good for posting recall notices there.
If there is a recall and it addresses a further issue causing the seal problem. Take a copy to the dealer.
I too would be going to another dealer to see if they can fix it.
It sounds like this place has no care mechanics there.
Your right Sherm, that is a very good deal!! The thing is to find a good one an not one that's been abused!
a white one is even more intrigueing... wonder what an oasis would turn up on that one?? i'd better not think any more of it... momma will have my nerds for ornaments
