I just got a 97 f 350 and noticed the valley under the filter canister was full of fuel. On our companys powerstrokes the drain valve o-rings get hard and leak, so i replaced the valve and o-rings and it still fills with fuel. I can dry it up and in about 80 miles it will drip down the back of the motor. Also noticed today that the driver side of the canister looks wet. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks Vince
You need to dry it up and see if you can find where the leak is coming from. The drain valve o-rings seem to be the most common, but there are other fittings on the bowl, fuel lines, cracks in the bowl, gasket on the filter, etc. that need to be inspected.
x2 on the info above. multiple leaky areas. sensors can leak too. dry it up then run it with the valley dry. light is your best friend, trust me ive had my head in there many times tryin to pinpoint leaks. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/8...-write-up.html try that link posted by losscause.
Thats a good read. Earlier today i did the 14.7k mod and the fuel dripped off the motor twice as fast. cleaned it up again and still wet on the drivers side of the canister. ill try tomorrow. Thank for the link.

My valley used to fill up with fuel as well. turned out it was leaking out of the weep hole in the mechical pump. But it was very difficult to figure that one out. Check your pump closely.
Cleaned up everything again and went for a ride. When i looked at it the driver side of the canister was wet and it looked like its either from the "control" or the fuel heater . Ford sells the o-rings for the heater but you have to buy the control. I'll know mid week.
Thanks again Vince

My local ford dealer said the o-ring for the sensor above the "control" was on back order. So i went and picked up the "control" and installed it this afternoon. While i had the canister off i removed and cleaned the other o-ring and reinstalled. Drove the truck about 25 minutes and so far so good. Thanks to everyone that replied.
