Been lookin around for a new head unit for my 93 f150. i want something with a cd player, that i can plug my ipod into, and i would like to have an optional sirius capability incase i decide to get that down the road. i think ive narrowed it down to 2 possible options, but if anybody has something better tell me. anyway- will one/both of these charge the ipod? do you know if either of them has a limit to how many songs it can see? i know some things you plug an ipod into it can only read x number of songs, and since i have 2000+ and over 200 in some playlists, its something i'm worried about. the sony says it comes with an ipod cable, is that something that would plug into the back of the unit anthen come from behind the dashboard? thanks i'm sure ill come up with more questions.
I just picked up a JVC KD-R300 at Circuit City (closeout sale) for $76. I had picked up a pair of Polk 5 1/4 coaxial DB521 speakers a couple of weeks prior, for about $70 at another one of their stores (good deal on speakers, not sure about CD rcvr). Now I need to make the alterations to wire and install. Not too motivated, because it just started raining. I'll let you know how it works, once I get finished.
I wouldn't recommend buying it from Cruthfield, but in fact goto Alpine's website and get a list of the authorized online vendors. I had it installed on my wifes suv and we love it. The ipod is great, and I have the Sirius module being sent to me this week. The unit is very easy to use, it charges the ipod. I had no problem working with my new ipod and my 1st generation ipod. I don't think theres a limit on songs and its dependent on the size of your ipod. I have 2500 songs on mine and it works flawlessly.
