Can anyone give me an idea of all the parts I will need to replace all the cab mounts front and rear of my 1965 step side? The cab is currently being supported by 2x4 and bailing wire, most of the cab mounts are rusted away. The rest of the sheet metal is fine just the underside is trashed. If there is a diagram or parts list available it would truly help me trying to order the parts.
Don't know if any of the sheetmetal parts are available...I fabbed the mounts on my '62 with 2x3 box tube and 16 ga. metal. It's a big job either way. You may have to find a better cab. Any pics of your rust? T/M
The mounts are almost totally gone I don't have any pics. I have found some parts in an aftermarket ford parts catalogue. I guess I need to go west or south to get a new cab?
If the truck is a 4WD or a 1 ton...with the exception of 1966 F100 4WD then that cab is the same 61 to 4 on all trucks except unibodies and 65-6 1 tons and 1/2 and 3/4 ton 4WD...except the aforementioned 66 F100.
If its a 2wd rig...it would be 65-6 2WD F100-250 ONLY...but INCLUDE 66 F100 4WD
the front mounts are easily attained...but if the floors and their underpinnings are toast as well as the rear cab crossmember then I would hunt for another cab...desert SW or SoCal is where best parts are found...If its gonna be just a driver ...then broaden the search area...but look at the underside in the mounts in particular...
Front cab mounts and the ends of the rear crossmember are available from vendors such as Carolina Classics. But, it will be a lot of work, and I'd only do it if the floors, roof gutter, etc are in good shape.
I know of a guy in MD who has one all welded up and would probably sell it but it may have to go as a 'whole' truck (it's currently apart).
lmc truck parts catalog online has detailed diagrams and parts lists for what you need, but have fun disassembling your whole truck to do the job. got a 69' F-100 in about the same condition
I just got my 2 front cab supports that weld to the body from Carolina Classics and they are dead nuts the same as the rusted out ones I cut off. They were a little pricey but worth it. Weigh out the cost of getting a cab from socal or the dessert sw and fixing yours. If you're redoing the truck anyways replacing these shouldn't be that tough.
