Mods help! So confused!!!!
I had planned on doing a few minor mods to my truck for aesthetics and performance. I wanted to do the following:
· 305/65/18 BFG AT KO Tires
· 18” MOTO Metal Skulls Wheels http://discounttires.com/detail_wheels.php?productTypeID=1161&finish_catego ry=BLACK
· Leveling kit – not sure which size, haven’t done the research yet.
· K&N Cold Air Intake
· Cervini Ram Air Hood

· Recon Smoked LED Cab Lights

· Recon Smoked Projector Headlights http://www.gorecon.com/product.php?pk=303&pname=Part-264196BK-SMOKED-Projector-Headlights-Ford-Superduty-08-10&p_cat=82
· Recon Smoked LED Tail Lights

· Delete the DPF and add new exhaust
· Install a performance chip/tuner…Banks 6 gun seems to be the recommended product, why?
I am totally not mechanically inclined so I need serious help on this topic. It seems like a ton of stuff to install and monitor. The system itself, additional gauges (which ones I have no clue), monitor all kinds of stuff (again no clue) and God knows what else.

>However after reading numerous posts now I don’t think it is such a good idea.
How many people have had issues with aftermarket wheels and oversized tires pertaining to tire balance/wobbling? I also read that almost all aftermarket wheels are lug centric and not hub centric like stock wheels. Does this greatly increase the chance of my lugs snapping? If I mount the 305s on my stock wheels, how great of an impact will it have with performance especially towing say a fifth wheel camper? Or is it just a MPG issue? Or would it be safer to go no larger than say 285?
The dealer informed me to stay away from ram/cold air intakes. They don’t do much for the money you pay. It is more cost effective to keep the stock air box and place an aftermarket filter in it. Question is now, which one to install? I read that any oil based filter is a no go as the oil could infiltrate the system and jack it up.
Why does everyone seem to prefer the cowl hood over the Ram hood? The ram hood seems a lot meaner in my opinion.
As for the DPF/tuner, I think I will wait until my warranty expires to complete that project. My local dealer told me it is illegal to remove because of emissions, not to mention that it voids your warranty. Some of you must be high rollers to have deleted it on your newer trucks. There ain’t no way I could afford to fix an issue with my engine if my warranty was voided. Is the benefit of power, engine life and MPG that great?
No.
Based on my real life experience, that is not true unless you over-oil the filter, but that is user error, not a design flaw.
It's all opinion since they are primarily for looks.
