yes, but what's the point unless you live in an emmission state.
They have no way of testing diesels with a tail pipe sniffer. All they do is look the under the truck for a cat...most inspectors don't know squat about them anyway.
Hi fellow strokers. I'm going to remove mine. Where would be a good place to purchase exhaust pipe from. Besides a muffler shop. I believe I'll install a piece of pipe through cat and reinstall it.
While the cat is off would I be able to get I good I idea what it would sound like by cranking or would it be a lot louder being so close to the turbo and manifolds?
How do you remove it? A sawsall? The part going to the muffler I can see has a clamp and a slip joint but before the cat I cannot see anything. Also would it be bad to udo the exhaust from the cat to get rid of the muffler til I can afford a downpipe and straight exhaust?

I would think that the exhaust fumes would come in the cab if not piped out the back or through the bed and out of stacks.
i love the smell... haha its great in the race car the headers are right under the floor pans... when that thing is making a pass on nitrous, it has such a clean smell....
Yea what you said. I think I could handle the nitrouis. But not my diesel.
Aslong as it comes out of a tail pipe on a car or truck its okay... now when you get into the Nitro methane cars... i can only handle that smell and fumes for about 3 minutes...
Jet cars though are like the diesels... dont bother me...
still not going to just cut the stuff off, ill wait til i get a down pipe and a 4 inch exhaust...
So to test a diesel they dont tailpipe sniff it? Just look for cats and probably for CELs?
Thats good news... although i dont have to do emissions ethier... this is my Cabin truck... haha
They might look for excessive smoke, called opacity test, coming from the tail pipe too, they may even have a fancy tester instead of "eye-balling" it.
If you have a chip that makes smoke you will want to remove it for the test or get a chip with more than one 'burn' that can be switched in the cab.
Not sure how much difference it would make, but it has to have some effect on the flow.
Allowing the exhaust to expand and then force it back down again creates backpressure. Plus slowing it down with the turbulance will cool it a bit slowing it more. Keep It hot and fast.
If your looking to get an exhaust system but want the performace and economy now.....just unbolt it at the DP and remove all the pipe. I did this and the turbo spool and sound is incredible. So much that I never got around to putting and exhaust on it. To deal with the soot buildup under the cab I useda rubberized undercoating (black) to protect the metal and to deaden cab sound. Going on three years now
DOwn side is with an intake and no backpressure ...even with the chip turned up I can't make a smidge of smoke
But when the injectors come, stacks are going on for the "cool" effect
