I have a 2003 Ranger 4x4, 4.0L. I just took it in for oil change and diagnostic. I was told that my Crankcase/PCV tube is broken. Does anyone have pictures or a diagram of where this is located? Any help would be great.
IF, and a BIG IF, your 4.0L does have a PCV valve, as I can't find a listing anywhere, but my '91-'99 Chiltons for my Ranger shows the PCV valve in the left rear valve cover, with a tube going to the intake manifold on that side..Take a look see and let us know what you find......
Y2K Ford Discount Parts (an FTE sponsor) lists a PCV hose for a 2003 Ranger with a 4.0 L engine, so the part exists. Sorry though, I can't tell you where the part is located.

Look at the firewall side of the valve cover on the drivers side. The PCV valve is located there. It has a large tube in the center and a smaller tube "wrapped" around it for coolant. The larger tube goes behind the engine to the passengers side then goes toward the front of the engine ending with a 90 degree turn into the intake manifold. Find out what part of the tube is broken as on my truck (2003 with 4.0) the rubber 90 degree fitting at the intake manifold was split wide open. Picked up a shaped piece of heater hose that worked just great and is stronger than the part I took off.
Are you throwing any codes, check engine light on???
