Going to have the rest of my plugs changed and retorqued after blowing 2, have read alot of post on weather or not to put antisieze on or not. Going to use Motorcraft platnium plugs so do I need to antisieze them or not?
Also looked at doing the Timesert job but have a question, the stealership replaced the two blown plugs with steel inserts should I order the steel insterts or the aluminum inserts from Time sert.? Where is the cheapest place to order a Timesert kit?
I used Motorcraft plugs and anti-seize when I did my plugs. This seems to be what most guys/gals do but some claim that anti-seize is not needed. Also torque seems to be another area of debate. I used 14 ft-lbs and that seemed "just right". I know plenty of others here have used this value as well. Once again there are those they say a higher or low value is better.
In the end most go with Motorcraft plugs/anti-seize/14 ft-lbs combo. So far so good for me and many others.
I am not sure what the best insert type would be to use. I would like that answer myself. Also I have no idea where the best price would be. I would say EBay and Craig's List would be a good palce to start followed up by some Googling for online retailers.
