Hi all,
I have noticed lately that the steering wheel is really hard to turn when parking. I have to really use some strength. Tires are at about 70 psi. I also hear a squeaking noise sometimes when turing at low speed. Do I have power steering issues?
Thanks
Pull the return line off the hydrobooster (runs to top of powersteering pump) and replace with a length of clear hose. Run other end of hose to catch container. Remove lid from reservoir and with engine running, have some one slowly turn the steering wheel and work the brakes. Add fluid as it drops using a long neck funnel. Keep this up until fluid coming out of tube is pretty red color. Replace return hose and lid. I was thinking it took over 3 qts, but have since been told it was less than three. I used Syn ATF and it seems to be working great.
Thanks Barry. Yes, ATF is what goes in the power steering pump. Lots of people put power steering fluid in the power steering pump. Who would have thought. lol.
