I put a new battery in last night a 15 min. job. The red light on dash says door open and My inside lights stay on all the time after I lock doors. I took cables off battery no luck. Any ideals.
Just a suggestion - but you could spray each of the door switches with WD40 - that fixed a couple of problems on my 2003 EB, including Door Ajar and interior lights staying on.
Question:
If any of these door latch switches were bad wouldn't you get an associated 'door ajar' or 'liftgate ajar' indication, along with the interior lights not turning off? I do not get any of these indications but my interior lights are stuck on and will stay on until the battery dies if I don't pull fuse #21.
I assume the door switches' signals are sent to a relay that activate the lights, and I assume that it is stuck closed. But where is this relay? It is not in the fuse box of my '03 Expi, so is it part of the GEM module? Where is that on the '03?
Frustrated me like you and I had to pull the fuse.
What was the problem?
Well, turns out while I was working on something, I nudged the dimmer **** and flipped it all the way on, which, of course, means the interior lights do not go out. So, check to make sure you didn't bump that dial and turn the interior lights all the way on.
#@!^*%#*(%#@
You've gotta be kidding me! I don't know whether to laugh or throw this bottle of beer at a wall!!
I can't remember the last time I touched that dimmer, but guess what - yeah, you guessed it. Glad I don't have any bullets for my gun...
Kargh, you're the reason I will sleep peacefully tonight, lol!
