trans temp guage

trans temp guage

I have a f250 02 with the factory trasmission guage in the dash. My question is why does the guage start to move to normal position while I am just warming up the truck for a few minutes?

It's not a reliable gauge for true trans temps. Install an aftermarket unit. My dash gauge will read "normal" when my Autometer unit hasn't come up off of 100 degrees.

well thas good to know because i freak out and change out the tranny filter and it was doing the same thing, so i will get an after market one and try it. thanks buddy.

The factory gauge is calibrated to be in the middle of normal when the trans is between 50F and 230F.

Andrew....

It's an easy job to install an aftermarket temp unit. Especially if you tow, I would say it's a must.
