d44 swap

I recently had a friend give me the front and rear axles out of a 76 F250. I am wanting to see if I can swap the front axle into my 80 F250. The axle on the highboy seems narrower and I dont know if I would be able to make it work. This truck will never see the road, so it doesn't need to be streetable at all. Just functioning. Does anybody know if I could rig this axle to fit?

This link is about swapping in a 70's axle underneath a late model f150, so there are some differences since yours has leaf springs. Maybe it will help, maybe not.
