I`ve always heard that too.
My 90 Crown Victoria/5.0/aod did 30 plus easily on a trip.

So with a lighter truck (I know they are less aerodynamic) then it should be possible I would think.

I know there is a 3.5L ecoboost slated for the Taurus and maybe the crossovers. Not sure what the trucks will be getting.

I was at Merlin yesterday talking with a salesman(we are up in saskatoon for the weekend(he was telling me he had a Explorer with the 4.6L and it was hard on fuel, he could never get 20mpg out of it. I found that had to belive if you where driving nice it should get over 20mpg.

Yeah I woulda thought a exploder with a 4.6 would have gotten better then that too. Sometimes you have to take what those guys at merlin say with a grain of salt though. I went looking at a new 6.4 diesel awhile back, and the salesman told me they were consistantly getting 22-25 mpg with them. I came on here and did some reading and the average mpg was like 14 on the highway lol.

I was talking to that sales man about the superduty's and diesel vs. gas(we talked for quite awile), he was telling me the 6.4l where getting 12-14mpg and the V10 is getting 15-18mpg both being empty and highway driving.

I has been thinking about a superduty in the future to pull the camper and boat together. I only drive 10-15min to work so it would be to hard on a diesel for those little trips. That's why I have been think about the V10, it's got more hp than the diesel with a little less torque. The salesman said that the V10 is a very reliable and powerful engine. Might have take one for a test drive someday.

A v10 would be a great engine in a superduty. Theres nothing wrong with them for sure! The new diesels I would have a hard time getting into, with the exception of the power factor.

New diesel has what 350 horse, not sure of the torque, what are the specs of a new v10?

The V10 has 363hp and 457ftlbs, the 6.4l is 350hp and 650ftlbs. The main thing is a F250 with the V10 is rated to pull 14,400lbs for fifth wheel hitch and my truck is only 8800lbs.

That extra 200 ft lbs of torque is a huge difference when it comes to towing, the horse is pretty close. Im willing to wager that the 6.4 would have more noticeable power.

But there is a huge difference in mpg, and these days thats enough to sway away from the power a little.

How heavy is your trailer that ya tow Marlon?

I just saw a Hemi advertisment that projected 28 mpg.

never in a week of sundays... make no wonder those guys are going bankrupt... they should turn some of their horse crap into money, they'd do alright...

i'd consider a V10 before the 6.4 as well if i were buying new. if there wasn't any warranty left on the unit, it'd be a 6.4, DPF delete and tuner going on there. buy a focus for driving back and forth to work. i'm considering looking for a 05-07 6.0 for summer work/highway and using my '08 for winter work... seems like a guy can find some really decent deals on those trucks right now without going stateside...

You can get a 05-07 6 liter truck for very very cheap right now. Ive found more of them for sale cheaper then the ol 7.3 liter trucks!

I was pondering getting one at an up coming auction, around 200k, ive seen em go for 5-8000 bucks!
