hello this is my first time posting i need some help i have a 89 ford ranger 4 wheel drive with a 2.9L motor in it and that is blown and i was wondering if a 1984 ford bronco 2 2.8L motor would work in that it is also 4 wheel drive i wanted to know if it would bolt up to the transmission and i wanted to know what clutch i would use the one with the 2.8 l or the one on the truck thank you for reading any info would help me have a nice day
yeah i know but i dont have the motor and i dont really have the money right now because i am going to college haha so money is tight right now and i have the 84 bronco just sitting out back
The 2.8 will bolt up, but the 2.9 is fuel injected and the 2.8 is a carb. You would have lass hassle to find a 2.9 or convert over to the 4.0. A 4.0 can be sapped into an 89 and it's just plug and play.
well im new to cars and so on so what would be the diffrence really between the two will the 2.8 work or no because i really dont have the money what would i have to do with it to make the 2.8 workthanks for the replies
another thing for the 5.0 swap, you could probably sell the bronco for the same price as the motor, then, from what im reading..you need odds and ends things
Even with the 5.0 swap you would need to go with a fuel injected 5.0 because of emssions, but at least the truck is setup for FI. It allready has the electric fuel pump in the tank and what not. However I'm sure the 5.0 would need a larger pump.
