Red Battery symbol

I am wondering if everyone gets the red battery symbol on there dash light up when the glow plugs are cycling waiting to start. Mine stays on until the truck starts.
I can't remeber if I've always got this or not.
I just had my batteries tested and they said they were both good (maybe because they would have had to replace free on warrenty) but I am still not convinced that I don't have some battery issues.

sounds like a battery issue to me I would have them checked somewhere where they are not under warranty autozone dose test for free. I would have the alt checked too while u are there. Although I would not recomend using autozone alts. I had had a lot of issues with there's in the past. I don't think my battery lights stay on that long I will check this afternoon when I get back in my truck to make sure. GL

FYI
The factory batteries are only warrantied for 3 years / 36k (as part of the bumper-to-bumper). On top of that, to get them covered under warranty, you have to bring them to the dealer IN THE VEHICLE. So you would have to drive the vehicle in or have it towed in.

The light stays on until the truck starts and the alternator starts to charge.

Exactly. That's normal. It's for you to verify that the lamp is good, and indicates the alternator is not producing.

I think all cars/trucks do that.

The bulb is in the feild curcuit of the Alternator. It is there to get the alternator to start to charge. If the bulb burns out the alternator will not start charging. If your bulb does not come on with the key your alternator will not charge unless you race the engine up. Once you race it up and it starts to charge it will keep charging until you shut the truck off and then you will have you race it up again. Just a good tip to know in case your out in the middle of nowhere and your bulb burns out.
