My door locks are going nuts.
when i got in my truck tonight i locked the doors after i started it. 2 seconds after I heard them unlock, so i locked them then they unlocked again, Only the drivers side is doing this.
So when I got home I shut the truck off and tried the power locks again, they worked fine, so i did it a few times and everything was normal. Then I turned the ignition on and they started acting crazy again.
so whenever the power is off they work fine but when the ignition is on they go crazy.
Any Ideas?
And its still making that crazy sound that i posted about a few days ago.
The door ajar light is on, that is a recurring problem so I just took the dome light out. If nobody has an Idea Im going to attack it this weekend with a volt meter and try the Wd40 in the door sensor thing, I was just hoping someone had an esay fix. I just got my shift kit in the mail and wanted to do that all day sat.
it may not be locking the doors because it thinks you are locking the keys in the ignition. sounds like your door latch is having an issue. my 01 250 has the switch in the latch of the door. everyonce in a while I have to drown it with lithium grease to get the switch to make the connection so my door ajar light will shut off. I don't have power door locks. so I can only assume that if I did when I was having the ajar issue it would of done the same thing
Try the WD-40 fix first. I had a truck that did this same thing with the locks. Only mine would also turn on and off the interior dome light as an added special feature. Ford replaced the door sensors, which didn't do the fix. They then replaced a wire loomed relay under the dash where all the door sensors ran through....and problem cured.
Good Luck

Spray the latch as well as around it. There is a post here on the forum, showing a photo of the exact spot, however I couldn't find it to post a link. But do the latch paying special attention to the moving piviot and contact points and behind these areas. Don't get carried away and soak everything down just because it is behind the door panel. Also spray and clean the catch mounted on the door jamb.
Because of the dome light issue, I'd expect you to loose power door locks anytime. I had a similar issue and it was the VSM dieing. When it died, I lost power door locks, the dome lights stayed on until the battery saver kicked out. I replaced the VSM, but I still need to get it properly programmed. My dome lights stay on, it thinks the doors are open unless I open both fronts, and the rear doors don't trigger the dome lights.
Then open and close the doors a few times. This will most likely fix both of your issues (the truck thinks your door is open with the keys in the ignition so it tries to prevent you from locking yourself out).
