4 speed to 5 speed

4 speed to 5 speed
I would like to replace my 4 speed with a 5 speed my bronco is an 86 with a 5.8 carb. Does anyone know what year modle 4x4 i could get a transmission from that would fit my transfer case

I'm pretty sure it is, looking at your year, but double check to see if you have a hydraulic and not the mechanical clutch. If you have a mechanical, the only way you're getting a 5-speed is to swap out the entire clutch system all the way to the pedals.

Pics. Note you may run into the Mazda trans in your travels--an ok trans, but not as strong as the ZF and first is not a "low" gear.
The ZF was put behind 460s and diesels too, so be sure you find one from a 300 or 351w.
