Dealership gets something like $350 for the pump.....no wonder he's trying to sell one. When was the fuel filter changed? I don't think that's the problem, but it wouldn't hurt to change it if there's more than 5,000 miles on it.

If I had the same pedal as you I would offer to swap them out so you could troubleshoot it, but I have the old style pedal with separate TPS and IVS.

Well, I took it to a shop this morning. Turns out the HPOP was bad. The bad part is now the pressure is so low, it won't start. So I am out like 700 bucks. Thanks for the help everyone.

Interesting. You should make them give you the old one so we can disassemble it. It's my understanding that the piston/swash plate style pumps we use are virtually bulletproof. I would be curious to get a look at the pumps internals.

The up side is the pump is over $500, so they are not beating you up too badly on the labor. It just sucks that you have to lay that cash out for a part that almost never breaks. Bad luck.

I got the Ex from my brother. He is thinking that he had to get a HPOP put on it last year. He is supposed to be checking into it. I am having to get him to take care of things for me, as I am in Houston all week. He is supposed to talk to the shop that put it on for him about getting it warrantied. If they wont, I told him to get the old pump.

Man.....I dunno about all that. Two high pressure oil pump failures in a years span. Hard to fathom.

I wonder if it wasn't the IPR valve one (or both) times. I have a spare IPR if it's still broke when you get back and want to try it.

I talked to my brother Friday. They told him it was a pressure regulator on the HPOP.

That's what an IPR is. Injection pressure regulator.
