this evening after the rain showers I was looking at my exhaust and found a big hole in it looks like somebody blew the hole in it when they welded it to a hanger just above the skid plate is for the transfer case. thought I saw exhaust coming from there. anyhow I need to fix it. what would you guys do like get rid of muffler run a straight pipe? or what. 1984 f-250 4x4 6.9 4 speed manual banks turbo
well, especially if its is the factory single exhaust, i reccomend a better flowing dual three inch or beter, especially with a turbo, if u cant afford it and can stand the volume and sound, then u can run it straight and still get better performance
i was surprised when i straight piped mine and ran the pipe out behind the cab all it did was make the turbo whistle alot more but really got no difference in how loud the exhaust was.
so in other words who needs the muffler if I have the turbo. right, for now I just welded up the hole in the pipe today. I think I have 3 exhaust but not sure.
just hack it off and run a 45 or a 90 degree adapter out the side it cost me 12 bucksto do mine i think.i thinkyou will be way more happy without the muffler.it will also sound twice as mean.mine even passed emissions like that.so i know it dont effect the clean burning part of it i think it would make it burn cleaner.
ya thats what i did.or you can just run the filler pipe where the muffler was.i just did it that way to be different, they look cool when you put a chrome tip on too.
i bought mine at napa autozone also carries it about any parts store will.or you can go into an exhaust shop and have them cut you a piece they could even expand it for you so it just slips right in then throw 2 clamps on it or weld it instead of buying adapters.just a thought.
