That's TJ I just hate ebay sometimes...I feel many young pucks open up more than one email and bit on their own crap to jack up the price...I even had one person burn me with a shipping cost twice the product cost (she said over night UPS) and charged me 50.00 then sent in regular US mail for 17.00 and pocketed the difference. She said it was to make-up for the difference she lost for selling the item so cheap!! What the heck is that crap...pay pal nor eBay would help...I guess you can get away with lots and no problems with ebay...really unregulated what your self.
I here I am again...weather has been mild so and I've moved the truck several times and she starts up fine...moved to front of house and no sweat, drove 10 miles to son-law's house and turned her off and loaded her down. Went to start her and all I got was click from the starter relay (mounted on finder wall) tried a jump, tired to tighten battery post even stuck in a small screw between both the clamps and post for a fast fix (both batteries)...so it all seems tight still clicks...so it happens now and again. Could it just be the starter relay? I didn't see which post to jump, not like the old gas jobs where you have two large on either side. So didn't want to blow any fuses? How much do they cost, if its reasonable priced I can just change it, but it has to be called something different since I search auto zone for a starter relay and they don't show anything named that, ideas?
well i had the exact same problem with my 93 f-350 7.3 idi, but my problem was who ever put my starter on before i got it, did not tighten up the bolts holding the wires on the solenoid, so that was mine. if all your wires are connected good, and you have a new starter, the relay on the fender, is just like a solenoid also, might have to try replaceing it, it was not but about 15 dollars at autozone, just tell them the solenoid on the inner fender and they should know what it is
Tha-yoter you called Auto Zone and asked for a solenoid? Hm ok I'll try if nothhing else when I get it I can look and see if it's right. I looked at there on line system and res my truck year and all it didn't list that type of aprt at all...should call I guess
Today I replaced the relay mounted on the fender wall. (this one had an extra lug but worked none the less) jumped in and she clicked again...tried a few times and the dang thing started???? I was afraid to turn it off so drove it home and parked it. I really feel it has to be a weak starter solenoid that might be going bad? Does it make sense that one would work now and again? Is it easy to reach with-out removing the starter or do I have to drop that take off the old one and re-install the complete starter? Suggestions?
must weight a ton, any suggestions would be nice, thanks again
Is the big cable theat hooks to the starter selenoid tight? I have had that one work loose and I would get that click one time and it would start right up the next. To replace the starter selenoid , the starter has to come off.
No still have original starter, guess next thing to check is wires and if tight, replace starter. If you guys hear of any good deals I'm open for suggestions..looks like around here ( we don’t have much choice) AutoZone and Schucks want around 125.
you can replace just the solenoid without taking the whole starter completly off,me and my step dad did it but i don't know which is easiest, but you may just go ahead and replace the whole stater because if you have it out once and replace the solenoid and that doesn't fix it you have to drop the whole thing again.
Just replaced starter (replaced relay on the fender) and it started or tuned over and wouldn't stop kep going and going...had to undo battery to get it to stop key had no effect. Just before I replaced starter it was still just clicking and a few times it would start, so it all pointed to starter. Just fished the job and it hit the frist time and would not disengauge! Could the small wire on be touching one of the larger power wires? I had to tighten it up from the front with several extenisions and I saw it spin a turn or two? What is that wire and could it be that?...fender relay seemed to be ok and is new..Please help with advise
