diagnosing wiring faults
I am looking for practical advice on finding a wiring fault
I have an 1988 F-250, 5.8L, fuel injected. I used a code reader and have got the codes for:
+) coolant temp sensor out of range
+) intake air temp sensor out of range
Note that I am only looking at the engine off test so far.
Just recently a mechanic had the truck and specifically tested the coolant temp sensor, but I think he literally took it out and tested it. So, all of this wiring is under the hood and doesn't look bad as far as damaged insulation and I am wondering if anyone has any advice on how to figure this out quickly. Unfortunately, I am up against New Hampshire winter and I do not have a garage.
Thanks
thanks,
I warmed the truck up before doing the Key On Engine Off test. Now I get the 11 code followed by my continuous memory codes. I am going to do the engine on test tomorrow morning.
The code reader I have is the equus 3145 and the manual doesn't say to warm the vehicle up before the engine off test but it makes sense that you should.
Thanks
