Raw Fuel Smoke

Another long distance repair
A friend called from SC about his 2000 excursion has raw fuel smoke after it warms up
This all started about a week ago after a what he thought was a fuel gel problem while he was in Va.Now has the whiteish blue fuel smoke
Had new CPS about 3 - 4 weeks ago
He says the smoke goes away over 2000 RPM
Only thing I can think of right now is oil temp sensor.Anymore ideas?

Maybe just due to cold cylinders?

If there is sufficient loss of compression in one of the cylinders raw fuel will be pumped out rather than ignited. Just a thought.

I would suggest that he has a cylinder contribution test ran on it to test the injectors. Sounds to me that there is a possibility that one may be dumping excessive amounts of fuel.

Ok trying to find someone to do a cylinder contibution test without costing an arm and a leg
Would it be possible to unhook a bank at a time and narrow down where the culprit may be?

I give up,marked this one down as a failure

Did find a couple unrelated problems 1-oil line at HPOP (fixed) 2- oil in ICP plug (maybe was part of cold start problem a couple weeks ago)

Poor mans way to check for a bad cyl.is to take a temp gun check temp on the exhaust manifold at each cyl.coolest one will be the trouble maker.

Done this on tractors before.

I think that is better then bad rings or injectors. Glad you found the problem. Time for a rebuild.
