Best Locker/Lim.slip?

Howdy Gents, on my 77 in my sig, the 3rd member/9" took a dive, broke the factory Lim.slip carrier it had, seems the locking nut lock tab didn't hold, and the bearing and nut decided to slide on down the axle, and I proceeded to take off a little harsh on asphalt and broke the ring gear carrier housing, and cap! Who knew it was loose? or off for that matter. But, sob story aside, now I am looking at replacing the 3rd member, and am wondering if a Detroit locker is the way to go, or Tru-trac, Eaton,,,, the list goes on.
It is a wood/hunting/camping/DD truck in the winter in snow, not any major 4x4ing,,,,yet! I have 2wds I mix up the Daily Driving with during the summer and good winter days.
What are pros-cons,,,,
I like the fact of a locker, but the lim.slip did overall pretty good....

Any input and opinions is welcome.
Thanks
Joe

I prefer the detroit locker, I run one front and rear on my Jeep CJ7 and will most likely install one in my 94 F250 someday. But truth be told if I ever break the locker in the rear of my Jeep I will just install a spool. My 94 has a tru-trac in it and it does ok as long as I don't demand a lot from it.

A good limited slip will have nice road manners and do the job,
but if you want something you can put in and never have to worry about how well it is going to work then go with a Detroit Locker. It will always work

I recomend the trutrac. I had one in my pickup and it worked outstanding. They only reason I'm not going with it again in my 60 is I'm going with a selectable locker. It will function well for you and you'll never have to worry about clutches and cones wearing out. You'll be happy with it

I'd run a True trac or a detroit. I run a detroit in my daily driver, love it. My daily driver is a 79 F150 short bed 4x4. I've run them in a couple of my rigs now and they all see the street, dosen't take long to get used to and the traction is great.

I like the way it works with no cluches ... locks real good...Theres a lot of pepole that dont think it should be in the class as a limited slip...That its more like a locker...What do you think ??? I use it for drag racing the mustang guys love them....there runing 10s with big slicks with them...

I have known a couple of people that have used the richmond powertrax. It is a full time locker but allows the inside tire to rachet around turns so street manners are pretty good. Nice unit, it replace all the spider gears in the stock case.

YUP!! Thanks guys...

Well the difference in $$ between the Detroit locker and tru-trac is minimal, so I was thinking the Detroit would be the ticket.

There are always ARB air lockers too. They allow fully open differentials for when on the road, but with the flip of a switch they are fully closed.
