Daves54 has always wanted to be Daves56/bigwindow. All of the 56 trucks that I see go for 7500 up and allI really want or need is the cab and doors. I would hate to buy a 56 for the cab and still have to do extensive repair to the cab. I sure some on here is or has gone the fiberglass route I was just looking for some pros and cons.
There is someone on here that has the fiberglass cab, just can't think who it is at the moment but I'm sure he will be along soon or someone else will know who. That fiberglass cab is going to set you back around $6,000 though but save you alot of work. Hope it all works out for you.
Thamks I am just thinking to get the doner and still have to put the time and money into for just the cab and doors seems crazy! Not that I am flush with money, but time seems much harder to come by than the money.
You are correct I do enjoy every knuckle busting second, but after looking at the truck for the last 5 years with no progress now that I am working on it I looking for ways to speed up the process. Besides I don't have a place to keep a doner while it gets stripped. I fyou go on ebay there is a 56 bid is at 5k, reserve not met, would cost atleast 1k to ship, it's not a big window, and it needs a floor!! 6k for a bebop complete cab is looking better!
It sounds like you are already sold on a fiberglass cab...however, there are many 56 cabs available for much less money than you will spend on a glass cab. I bought a nice 56 SBW cab and other parts from a FTE member here a few months ago for well under $1K, he had it advertised in the FTE classifieds. I see 56 BBW cabs selling on ebay for as much as $3,200...if I were in the market for a cab and had $6,000 (the price of a glass cab) in my budget, I'd buy the real deal and possibly get a BBW in the process.
It must be location. I have located some in Mass.,but they are pricey and need work and I would have to find a set of doors aswell. I am not sold by any stretch I am working on the chassis now and am still a ways from evenworking on the cab one way or the other. But unless i can find a cheap cab.....I'm so confused!!!
