'08 5.4 losing power
I have an '08 250 with the 5.4 and it only has 6,000 miles on it and when I floor it to pass a car it looses power and bogs down. The first time it happened I checked the fuel filter and it had some crappy gas in it, but was not blocked. It will accelerate slowly, but if you push the pedal down hard it will bog down and sputter a little bit. I replaced the fuel filter and the gas looks clean and the computer threw a code- p-0191, I think that is the fuel rail pressure sensor or something like that. It may only do it when the engine is warm, it does'nt do it when the motors cold that I know of. Any one have any ideas? Thanks.

You might check the MAF and clean it. Also, check your fuel pressure. Had an Explorer do this a few months ago and the fuel pump was only putting out about 30% or recommended pressure - supposed to be around 21 PSI and was putting out around 8 PSI. Here are a couple of threads I found:

Hope it helps.

Yea, I know I should bring it in, but it is such a pain and takes so much time to do that, I figured I would at least check it out first. Where is the maf sensor located, what does it look like, and why would it be dirty so soon? I might just run all the fuel through it and see, but I have two tanks and 140 gals. to go through I also put a bunch of injector cleaner in the fuel. Thanks.

Listen to the other guys and take it into the dealer. I'm not trying to be mean or ugly but if you need to ask about the MAF sensor let the dealer fix things. Be polite and ask questions about what they do. Then using a Haynes or Chilton manual review what they tell you they did. One way to get the info is to buy a pizza and bring it in at lunch time for the tech. You can sit down and share the pizza and he will most likely share with you what he found out.

I know what a mass airflow sensor is, just don't know where it is on my new truck. I have been working on cars and electronics for almost 30 yrs., I would like to try and clean it before going through all the trouble of bringing it in. I live in a rural area, and use my truck for work, I just don't want to have to get a ride and lose a couple of days work. If you bring it to a dealer around here you usually have to leave it for 3-5 days before they will look at it and that is fast. Thanks.

I think your crazy to do anything under the hood except check the oil and drool.
The dealer will be looking for a reason not to fix it, Why give um one

Take it back to the dealer. Based upon the code, a MAF problem is extremely unlikely. You have a code for a fuel pressure problem, and if it is a fuel pressure problem, let the Ford techs figure it out and deal with it. It is probably a lemon fuel pump, so let them replace it under warranty.
