Yeah - you still need to trickle - unless you do the harpoon mod to your fuel tank. I did the mod and can now fill up at the "big-boy" pumps (18 wheelers). Fills up in seconds and no issue w/ the pump tripping off.
I just wish that I had installed a larger suction line to the HFCM when I had the bed jacked up and the sending unit off of the fuel tank.
I am close to buying a FASS system. Part of the kit is a larger pickup tube in the fuel tank. I just don't want to mess w/ the whole job of removing the sending unit, making sure it is put back on without a leak, etc. again. I guess overall it really wasn't that bad of a job, but getting a strap wrench on the sending unit flange was difficult for me - so I took a punch and a hammer to it. Sorry I was not very clear in the previous post.
In a 6.0 will i still have to stand and trickle in the last 3 gallons of dsl at the pump like my 7.3 or is that done?
My '04 was bone stock when I got it at 27k miles. Except for the B&W gooseneck hitch. I really doubt the previous owner (it was a lease that was repossessed) did the harpoon mod, but I suppose it is possible.
I do not have to trickle mine in. After it clicks off (on the regular auto diesel pumps, not the big rig ones), I can get about 1/2 gallon in. I have to tell some of the pump jockeys here about that, they're always "hey, I can get at least 3 more gallons in there." Whenever they try, they end up spitting diesel all over themselves.
