magor 351w problems HELP!!!!!!

magor 351w problems HELP!!!!!!

I was wandering if I can have some help on my windsor. I put a new distributer in(because the vacume advance went out in the other) I messed up the timing some how, but I finally got it to start but it runs horrably when it is idling ond ok when it is going faster. PLEESE HELP!!!

You're going to have to make sure you indexed the distributor properly. If you didn't mark it when you took it out, you may have to use trial and error and a timing light.

I didn't mark it but I got it to start using trial and error. And spark is getting to all plugs. Would a week spark cause this?

you are going to have to set the timing with a timing light, and make sure you have the plug wires in the right order.

I got the motor running awsome using a timing lite so I drove it up and down our road and I heard a poping noise so I opened the hood and it was coming out the carb the longer it ran the worse it got, now it cant start any ideas.

That means your timing is still wrong. You may have to manually rotate your engine (Battery Disconnected!!!) until your #1 cylinder is at the top of a compression stroke. Have the plug out and insert a compression gauge. If you don't have one, put a piece of duct tape over the plug port and watch for the tape to be pushed off. Then make sure the rotor of your distributor is pionted at the #1 plug wire. That will get you in the ball park to adjust your timing with a light.

Thanks for the help every and the poping noise was acctulay caused by a valve not opening. Now i have the truck running like a Ford(awsome). Again Thanks for the help farmall hcrazy.
