Complete Powertrain swap?

This is just a thought but I have an '02 F150 short bed 2wd with a 4.2 manual. I've had it for almost 5 years and really like the truck but I'm considering a project with it involving finding a wrecked 5.4 automatic and buying complete powertrain with harness, and ecm and building a really cool little truck. (I recently sold my Cobra and I'm suffering from withdrawal) Has anyone here done a complete powertrain swap and if so just how problematic was it? I expect some issues but I'm concerned if the harnesses will swap out and stuff like that. All help appreciated!

While you are getting parts from the donor truck, get the rear differential too. Otherwise, you should be able to pull it off if you follow what you said. Good luck!

I'd just get the whole donor wrecked truck, strip it, then part out the rest. That gets all the nickel-and-dime items in one place.
