Tailpipe source?

My 78 Bronco 351M needs a new tailpipe, just the pipe that goes over the rear diff. It's single exhaust with a good turbo muffler already on it. All suppliers that I've checked only have kits with mufflers or duals. Anybody know a source for tailpipe? Thanks.

Tailpipe source?

Hi there,
While checking on some parts I ordered from My local auto part store, I inquired about your year Bronco tailpipe. Here's what they said: They do sell just the tailpipe by itself(not as a kit), but it may not be a perfect match up. It may be depending on which brand muffler you have. Some use 2" O.D. while others use 2" I.D, etc. They do this so you will use their brand tailpipe with their muffler. The tailpipe will have all the right bends, but may wind up being the wrong lenghth also. In this case you may have to cut it, or use adapters. Before you order one, I would check the O.D. of the muffler and the I.D. of the tailpipe. You could also just take it down to a place like Midas or Meineke, and they will make one up and install it for about $50.00. These places arent so bad when you hit them at the right time. (when they open up in the AM) I hope this helps you. "Long may you run" (Neil Young)

Thanks Kenny, I appreciate your trouble. Was your auto parts place one of the chains, Auto Zone, Advance, Pep Boys? Thanks again. Don

Tailpipe source?

Hi Don,
Nope, it was an independent store called Joy Auto Parts on Rt 22 here in N.J. I figured if they have them, the chains must carry them also.

Tailpipe source?

I was able to get an exhaust pipe for my 78 Cougar a couple of years ago from NAPA.

Tailpipe source?

What about having a muffler shop bend a new one?
