I have my service book and no where in that green book does it have a picture on how those braces suppose to be attached. I did the front ones easily but does anybody have a picture on how their attached please???
They just bolt them to the frame and the bumper. But you have to leave them all loose until you get them all bolted.
Here's a line drawing - I don't have mine on yet - next week!
Good Luck,
Julie
those pictures are bumper, not fender.. I assume he means the rods from the bedside to the corner of the fender to stop vibration.
At least the ones I've seen show the rod going to the lowest fender side bolt (below the bed surface) to the corner of the fender.. thats what I intend to do on mine
If I understand the question correctly, you asked about the fender braces, not the bumper braces.
Page 24 of the LMC truck catalog (you can download for free) shows a picture of the rear fender brace. It attaches to a tab on the inner rear fender then to the third hole of the flange (from rear) of the bed side panel using carriage bolts.
You guys mean to tell me that fenders and bumpers aren't the same thing? RTFQ I guess huh?
You guys will have to forgive my answers this week. My regular drug dealer is out of town at their annual convention and this non union substitute guy is selling me bad stuff.
Sorry
PS I just put my back BUMPER on and had to cut the lower lip of the frame off about 3 inches back to fit the curve of the new brackets. I guess I got "scope locked" on that because the set up as sold doesn't fit.
Mine have two holes on the end that goes to the bed wood and one hole at the fender end. I put it in the first hole and then moved to the second hole. It does pull the fender in quite abit more but I like it that way. You can double nut the bed wood bolt or take the nut off and pull it up more. IF you have fat tires you may want the first hole as it gives more play. Hope this helps and makes since. You know that the brace goes behind the tire right??Max e
